This is one of the best KL lots we have ever come across. A true and undoubtfully museum set in great shape. An awesome lot that belonged to an inmate who was imprisoned in KL Dachau. Called Sigmund Kantarek and born Pole, he was born 12.3.26 in Lanberg (Germanized name for Ukrainian Lviv, previously Poland), was taken to Dachau 23.12.43 until the day US troops of the 20. Armored division and the 45. Infantry division liberated the camp 29.4.45. The prisoner was given the number 60.809 within the concentration camp, and he wore it until the last day. Obviously he survived that horror and now we have the chance to get this amazing piece of history. The set consists of the following GENUINE items: - Inmate's cap - Inmate's jacket with sewn patch with number and winkel (triangle) in red color with a P standing for Pole, who was a political prisoner - Inmate's pants with sewn patch with number and winkel (triangle) in red color, standing for Pole, who was a political prisoner and what's more, matching the jacket's patch! - Set of papers from US troops given to this inmate after liberation and some others given in camp by Nazi authorities. Regarding the material items of garment are made from, we can say all of them are winter issues, but whereas cap and jacket are same striped cloth pattern with common grayish white stripes, the pants are slightly different, with brighter white. That was very common within concentration camps, since inmates were given the available garments, and sometimes those were manufactured in different places and with different materials. In many pictures can be seen many inmates wearing different pattern jackets and pants. All the items are worn condition, but really well preserved. Damage is almost nonexistent and we could say this is one of the best preserved sets we have ever had for sale in our shop and see in any museum ! Documents are really interesting, because some of them were issued to the prisoner, then liberated, by the American libertators themselves. Some are kinda sheet of papers with information of the prisoner, and others are kinda work permissions to work and move along the camp area. There are 2 other documents that are written in German, and issued in 1944 to the prisoner, with a list of the items the prisoner had within the camp. There's also a kind of list where some figures of inmates from different nationalities are listed. Honestly, the best KL set for sale on the Internet and the only one we have seen in years where 2 patches are present, in the trousers and in the jacket! That was what law inside camps demanded to all the inmates, and only from time to time such a uniform with that interesting detail still present can be found. Don't let it go, or you will see this uniform in one of the best Holocaust based museums in the world, behind a glass cabinet. If you want to touch the history, here you can get a piece of it. Sad part of our history, but want it or not, a part of humankind's history. Also i got few days ago from family of this prisioner clogs so just add to this set.
