This genuine Zyklon B of 500gr was found in Germany in the 80’s in an abandoned warehouse in the vicinity of Hamburg. The can in question has the original green painting, some rust due to the 70 years exposed to humidity and it’s used condition, since it’s opened and empty. The original label is also complete and in very good shape. Many of these can be seen in museums like Auschwitz I. These cans of 500gr, along with the other existing versions of 100, 200, 1200 and 1500gr were used to kill people in those concentration camps where the infamous gas chambers were available. That’s why they were called “extermination camps”. Firstly Zyklon B was created in the 20’s as a cyanide-based pesticide for disinfection and plagues elimination, but when the Nazis found out that it could also be used to carry out mass killings of the enemies of the Reich in buildings built or set up for that purpose, camps such as KL Auschwitz, KL Majdanek, KL Sutthof and many others all over the III Reich, used that poisonous gas and bought thousands of cans from the 2 existing manufacturers: Tesch & Stabenow and Heerdt & Linger.
