We offer for sale this genuine ID tag that belonged to an SS guard of KL Mauthausen/Gusen. This ID tag was worn by SS Totenkopfverbände guard round his neck so that he could be identified. Tags like these are really scarce when it comes to concentration camps, and this one in particular was found with a metaldetector in the area of KL Ebensee by an expert detectorist. Ebensee was a satellite camp of the huge KL Mauthausen complex and inside it, slaves were used in the manufacturing of the infamous V1 and V2 rockets launched against Belgium or UK. It was a vast underground complex that used slave laborers in the poorest conditions. Therefore, thousands died in this satellite camp and many skinny corpses were found by allied forces when camp was liberated at the end of the war. This one was found along with others in a foxhole and it belongs to the horde of tags of Ebensee. It has some traces of rust due to the fact it was buried for 70 years. An item worn by an unscrupulous SS guard that took part in the extermination of millions of innocent people. Extremely rare and in great condition!
