AEROPLAN - Jewish motorcycle factory 1922-1925 Very RARE

Price:$120.00
Product category:
Aeroplan is a historic German brand of light motorcycles. The company name was: Fahrradhaus Gustav Lederer, Kohlfurt. After the First World War, hundreds of small motorcycle brands were created in both the United Kingdom and Germany. In Britain this "motorcycle boom" started as early as 1919, in Germany only in 1922. Bicycle dealer Lederer started making motorcycles with built-in motors in 1922 - just like most of his competitors. He supplied fairly primitive frames in which 123 and 173cc DKW two-stroke engines were mounted. In 1925, more than 150 of these small German brands closed the doors. They had to have customers in their own region and could not compete with the large companies that could sell motorcycles nationwide via a dealer network. The Aeroplan motorcycles also disappeared in that year. It is probably related to the Gustav Lederer, a very rich German Jewish family (his son Fritz escaped to the US before WW2 ). with temp permission to stay in Austria later on. Gustav had in the twenties a motorcycle factory for a very short time  and he called the industry Aeroplan.  It is the only industry with  that name that was related to a Jewish family so probably the led block it's from the factory.. Aeroplan Motorcycles A Brief History of the Marque Gustav Lederer, Kohlfurt Assembled using their own frames and DKW engines, the Aeroplan factory produced two-stroke machines between 1922 and 1925.
