Johannes Riemann (1888-1959) German actor hand signed photographic postcard with a handwritten autograph dated around 1930. Eugen Johannes Riemann (born May 31, 1888 in Berlin, † September 30, 1959 in Constance) was a German actor who has appeared in over 90 film roles since 1916. From 1934 Riemann also directed the film and contributed to screenplays. Hetook acting lessons from Anna von Strantz-Fähring and Alexander Strakosch based on musical interests. In 1908 he received his first engagement at the Berlin Hebbel Theater. Other stages in his theater career include Teplitz, Meran and Marienbad, the Berlin Volksbähne and the Hoftheater in Weimar. Max Reinhardt brought him to the Deutsche Theater in Berlin around 1916. The focus of his film work lies between 1916 and 1945. His first role was in the film loosened chains. In the Nazi period he became a member of the NSDAP. In 1939 he received the title "State Actor". During the Second World War he appeared on a trip to occupied Poland in late March 1944 as part of a troop support event for concentration camp personnel during a colorful evening in Auschwitz. After the Second World War he was on stage again often.
