Hand-drawn cartoon sent to an inmate in KL Ravensbrück. The most amazing thing in the particular case of this letter is that the prisoners could not keep letters longer than the next letter from home! If those letters were found, prisoner could be severely punished by camp authorities. It is important to remark that this is not the ordinary letter sent from the camp, one out of thousands available in the market. This one was sent by relatives to the prisoner in the camp! The opposite way! I can't tell you how he managed to keep it inside the camp without being discovered and how much risk he took to keep it, but it's a very rare case in KL history. In the middle of the letter, can be seen the censor's stamp of the camp. It's also very interesting the beginning of the letter: "the first message from you after 3 years!"
This letter is a must for any good camp letter collector. It's a very very scarce and rare item, and we could say one of a kind. I bought it along with the envelope sent to Ravensbruck too, but I'm not sure they belonged to the same person. First name on the envelope and the letter's prisoner's name are different. Could it be a kind of nickname prisoner had inside the camp? Who knows. The envelope is added to the set too.
