Nice photo depicting some Jews in Jewish district in Janow, Poland - 1940 In the photo we can see some eldery Jews talking with 2 girls and a younger man. We see that all the district is just rubble due to the destruction of the war. Soon after this year, in 1941, after the creating of the big ghetto of Czestochowa, all the Jews from Janow were transferred to that ghetto that was later liquidated and all the surviving Jews deported to Treblinka extermination camp. On the reverse it's written "Judenviertel in Janow. Okt 1940" that can be translated as "Jewish district in Janow. October 1940". Photo is in excellent condition. RCV
