Glider Pilot Badge, 1940. (Das Segelflugzeugfuhrerabzeichen der Luftwaffe). The Glider Pilots Badge was introduced by Reichsmarschall Hermann Goring on December 16th 1940 for award to military personnel who had achieved their gliding pilot's license. High oval badge made of non-ferrous metal, or zinc, other metals are not known. The wreath is made of oak leaves and laurel, each half of the wreath. A swastika in the wreath below. On top of it an eagle with its wings spread while gliding. The badge was designed by graphic artist Wilhelm Ernst Peekaus. The only known manufacturers of the badge were the companies C.E. Juncker, Berlin and the Schneider A.G. brothers from Vienna. Due to the large number of different variants, a value can only be determined individually. The reverse of the badge has a soldered barrel type hinge, a thin round vertical pin and a soldered catch all intact. The presented badge is one of the first variants (IMO). It is not signed with the manufacturer. The eagle's wings do not protrude beyond the edges of the wreath (very rarely variant). The badge was found on the battlefield that took place in 1945. The condition is as shown in the pictures. A very rare variant and a very rare badge. From the battlefield.
