This is a nice original example of the magnificent oversized hard cover book on the New Reich chancellery Professor Albert Speer built for Germany's 23rd Chancellor, Adolf Hitler, in Berlin in 1938. The very heavily illustrated hardbound book measures 11-3/8 x 14-1/2 inches, has over 130 pages, with many amazing high quality photos, and many views and sections of the enormous building, some as large as 14 x 36 inches! Die Neue Reichskanzlei (The New Reich chancellery) was printed in 1939 by the Central Publishing House of the Nazi Party, in München, Germany. It was intended to be the enduring testament to the building itself and to the genius of the architect, Albert Speer. This example is from the second Edition of 19,000 copies with the Reichschancellery eagle on the front cover, printed on excellent quality paper. Die Neue Reichskanzlei was reprinted several times in different editions during the Third Reich, but the color printing and the war-time paper in later printings were inferior to the materials used in the first, second and third edition. Hitler's New German State Chancellery in Berlin was huge in scale and grand in concept and excecution. It was a full city block long with three floors above ground in some places and it had many bunkers beneath it. It was never intended to be the architectural focal point of Hitler's new Berlin, but rather a temporary seat adequate to the power and position of Germany's Führer, the most powerful secular leader in Europe. This is the best overview of any ever made of the New Reichschancellery that architect Albert Speer designed and built in Berlin, Germany in 1938. The only principal tenant the building ever had during its short 75 month life was Germany's 23rd Chancellor, Adolf Hitler. In text and photographs this book begins with the political concept and need for a new German Reich chancellery, as well as the long term plan for Hitler's Berlin. It carries on through the design and construction that provided for the offices, the housing for administrators, office staff, and the SS staff required on-site.    Book also come with period dedicatory written on the first page. One of the most impressive books ever published during III Reich of an incredible building that no longer exists!
