Military Division:

This ID tag, made from zinc and in relic condition, was recovered in Germany in the area of a former POW camp where SS members were confined. These ID tags were worn around the neck by those concentration camp guards who belonged to the SS Totenkopfverbände, the SS division who was in charge of KL system in the III Reich. These guards, from young to older men, were in some cases really violent and true believers and carried out the orders mercilessly. Sachsenhausen was one of the main camps in Germany, and one of the oldest. Located in Brandenburg, it was created in the exact same place KL Oranienburg was, the older KL/prison. This one was one of the very first KL/prisons nazis created to concentrate their opositors, in 1933. And camp was also named after the old one, Oranienburg, since it was located in that city of Brandenburg and it was its root. Therefore, KL Sachenhausen was named KL Oranienburg-Sachsenhausen and ID tags were engraved with old camp's name.

It has written on it: SS T. STUBA. ORANIENBURG which means SS Totenkopf guard garrison from KL Oranienburg-Sachsenhausen.

Tag is in relic condition since it was ground dug, and one of the parts seems to be burnt. We suppose that owner wanted to destroy it to erase proof and he tried to burn it, but he never succeded in its destruction. Even so, it's perfectly readable. A proof of it having been used is the fact that the holes through which cord to wear round the neck was introduced, have some kind of erossion due to the use. It has the number 3745 engraved on the back. These dog tags are very very rare and scarce, and finding one is really difficult. We could only get 7 different camp tags in our life as collectors, and this one is one of them.
