This ID tag, made from zinc, comes from the surrounding area of KL Oranienburg-Sachsenhausen. These ID tags, were worn around the neck by those concentration camp guards who belonged to the SS Totenkopfverbände, the SS division who was in charge of KL system in the III Reich. These guards, from young to older men, were in some cases really violent and true believers and carried out the orders mercilessly. Sachsenhausen was one of the main camps in Germany, and one of the oldest. Located in Brandenburg, it was created in the exact same place KL Oranienburg was, the older KL/prison. This one was one of the very first KL/prisons nazis created to concentrate their opositors, in 1933. And camp was also named after the old one, Oranienburg, since it was located in that city of Brandenburg and it was its root. Therefore, KL Sachenhausen was named KL Oranienburg-Sachsenhausen and ID tags were engraved with old camp's name. One important detail regarding this tag is also the low number of the guard, number 33!!! That means that guard was one of the veteran guards who was in duty since the first years or also a high ranked officer who worked there, maybe in the Kommandantur. Tag, although ground dug is in perfect condition, and perfectly readable. These dog tags are very very rare and scarce, and finding one is almost impossible. We could only get 5 different camp tags in our life as collectors, and this one is one of them. Tag reads: SS T. Stuba Oranienburg -> stands for: SS Totenkopf Sturmbann Oranienburg (guards) This is one of the best chances you will ever have to own such an obsure item, worn by a criminal and that witnessed one of the darkest periods of our history.
