WW2 - Genuine spoon used by an inmate of KL Buchenwald!!! Engraved!
Price: | $150.00 |
Nor very common item for sale. This spoon was the spoon used by a survivor of KL Buchenwald. It's made from aluminium and it has the name of the camp engraved "KL Buchenwald", as well as "DAW" that stands for "Deutsche Ausrüstungs Werke". During World War II, the Buchenwald camp system became an important source of forced labor. The prisoner population expanded rapidly, reaching 112,000 by February 1945. The camp authorities deployed Buchenwald prisoners in the German Equipment Works (Deutsche-Ausrüstungs-Werke; DAW), an enterprise owned and operated by the SS; in camp workshops; and in the camp's stone quarry. It also has a hole so that the prisoner could hang it on a rope or maybe on a clove in the barrack. It's well used and we wonder how many sad and horrible events might have witnessed.
