Early Model Postcard Sent by Prisoner From KL Dachau in 1936. It comes with ink stamp of the censorship office of the camp. With guidelines to be followed by prisoners regarding shipping of postcards. Georg Schenk (born June 25 1901 in Lechbruck ; March 15 1992 in Burghausen ) was a German politician ( SPD ). From 1947 to 1953 he was a member of the Bavarian Senate as a trade union representative . From 1948 to 1966 he was first mayor of the city of Burghausen.After the National Socialists came to power, he was released. In the following years he was taken into “ protective custody ” several times and finally interned in the Dachau concentration camp on December 20, 1935 for 15 months. He was only rehabilitated after the end of the war. In 1945 he returned to work at Wacker-Werke and was re-elected as chairman in the first election of the works council.Seven years after joining the German Metal Workers' Association, Schenk became a member of the SPD in 1924 and shortly afterwards also became the local chairman of the Reichsbanner Schwarz-Rot-Gold . After his rehabilitation, he was elected to the Burghausen city council, the district council of the Altötting district and second mayor of the city of Burghausen in the first local elections after the end of the Second World War in 1946 . Two years later he moved to the top of the city administration and remained mayor until 1966. When the Bavarian Senate was founded, Schenk was appointed senator as a representative of the trade unions through his membership in the IG Chemie, Papier, Keramik . He was a member of the chamber until December 31, 1953. He only withdrew from his public office at the beginning of the 1970s. In 1972, after 26 years of membership, he no longer ran for a seat on the Burghausen city council, and in 1982 he finally gave up his district council seat
